Historical Event on 5/4/1783
Tipu Sultan was enthroned as the ruler of Mysore after the death of Haider Ali in a simple ceremony at Bednur. He continued the Second Mysore War against the English. He defeated many EnglishGenerals like Brithwhite & Col. Bailey. Tipu Sultan signed the treaty at Mangalore on 11th March 1784 A.D. which was known as the Mangalore treaty.

11/17/1932	The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
2/25/1968	Judge Mohammad Hidayatullah became the Chief Justice of India. He held this office till 16/12/1970.
9/26/1977	Uday Shankar (Chowdhury), producer and director of dance-based film 'Kalpana', passed away. He was the elder brother of Pandit Ravishankar. His main achievement was the blending of the Indian classical style with the Western Ballet and various folk dances.
2/7/1981	61 die in circus fire in Bangalore.
8/14/1968	Week-long flood death toll reaches 1,000.
7/12/1996	Lok Sabha adopts resolution extending President's Rule in J & K for 6 months.
9/26/1931	At Lancashire, Gandhi sees textile workers hurt by Indian boycott but says home spinning must go on.
