The Supreme Court allows Karnataka to begin skeletal work on erection of 26 crest gates at the Almatti dam on the Krishna at ''its own risk and cost'', but directs it not to raise the dam height beyond the present 509 metres.

12/27/1976The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members who laid down their lives to repulsed several waves of Japanese attacks. Advance Base Depot is shifted to Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 April 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.
8/9/1942Mahatma Gandhi after announcing 'do or die' slogan alongwith 'Quit India Movement' at Bombay was arrested along with 50 others. Gandhiji was interned in Aga Khan Palace at Poona. This Do or Die slogan deep rooted in Indian hearts and resulted in nationwide Quit India Movment. This day is commemorated as ""Kranti Day"". Govind Vallabh Pant was send to Ahmednagar Jail, while Sarojini Naidu and many other leaders were also arrested.
