| 8/15/1854 | The first train of the East Indian Railways steamed out of Howrah station destined for Hoogly, which was at a distance of 24 miles. It was the first passenger train catering to public traffic. Officially, it was inaugurated in 1855. |

| 5/20/1750 | Tipu Sultan, tiger of Mysore, was born. He was the son of Hyder Ali and born at Devanhalli village near Bangalore. Hyder Ali named his son after a great Sufi saint namely Tipu Mastan Aulia. Tipu Sultan was a great revolutionary freedom fighter, social reformer, musician and architect. |

| 11/17/1932 | The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything. |
