11/20/1859Elfinstone, Governor of Bombay Province and historian, passed away.
2/12/1928Bardoli Satyagrah (Gujarat) was led by Vallabhbhai Patel against the Bombay government's decision to hike the revenue on cotton by 22 percent while its prices declined Internationally. Ultimately the govenment quashed the hike.
5/30/1867Maulana Mohammad Kasim Nanantavi established the famous Islamic educational centre 'Dar- Ul -Ulum' in Devkampa, Uttar Pradesh.
11/21/1962India and China declared a truce from the war in which India was badly beaten. Because of winter in China, they halted their advance into India.
8/26/1984An Indian Airlines Boeing with 68 passengers and a crew of six hijacked to Lahore. The 12 Sikh hijackers then surrendered to the authorities in the U.A.E and released all the passengers.
1/3/2000A. B. Vajpayee, Prime Minister, accuses Pakistan for the hijack of an Indian Airlines aircraft. (The crisis ended on Dec. 31 last with the Vajpayee Government agreeing to free three terrorists in exchange for the passengers).

2/23/1792The Third Mysore War ended in Tipu Sultan's signing of Peace Treaty dictated by Lord Cornwallis & surrendering his two sons, Abdul Khaliq & Maiz - Uddin. This is known as Treaty of Seringapatam.
